IFPRA World Congress Keynote - Urban Nature

Last month I had the pleasure of giving the keynote address at the International Federation of Parks and Recreation Administration World Congress and ARPA Conference. In addition to the keynote I lead a workshop/charrette on active transportation planning.

Robert Voigt is an award winning Registered Professional Planner practicing for over 25 years in development, consulting, and government sectors in Canada and USA, with successes recognized internationally in urban design, healthy community planning and design, and stakeholder engagement.

He has led the development and implementation of multiple $1B+ mixed-use master plans; and, comprehensive policies, regulations, strategic plans to direct all forms of development for creating complete communities, and supporting community well-being. In 2019 became the first international member of ULI Health Leaders Network. As an industry leader he often advises organizations on addressing housing challenges, healthy community design, and economic development, such as the 2020 UN Habitat in Towns symposium.

Robert has a well-documented record of success including leading edge projects that have been recognized internationally in healthy community design, and community engagement. His work exhibits his unique skills as a creativity catalyst, and his ability to build partnerships and organizational capacity. In 2019 he became the first Canadian selected as a member of the Urban Land Institute’s Health Leaders Network.

He is a member of CHMC’s Expert Community on Housing. He was also invited to the advisory team that founded Planning for Health Equity Advocacy and Leadership (PHEAL) in 2020.

In 2012 his community design work was recognized for its effectiveness and innovation in the Canadian House of Commons, in a session of the Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development.

He has over 40 articles in professional publications, and has twice been featured on CBC Radio’s Spark program and his work is also featured in the book 12 Strategies for Re-Energizing Your Community.
