It's a Wonderful Life

I just came across this great video from the City of Beverly Hills. It is a takeoff on "It's a Wonderful Life" that explains the value of the Planning Department in a way that is very entertaining.

It is exactly this kind of innovation to community engagement and information design that I have been promoting for years in my professional work, presentations, and here on Civic Blogger. When you realize that this video was completed in 2003 it makes it all the more ground breaking.

In 2012 his community design work was recognized for its effectiveness and innovation in the Canadian House of Commons, in a session of the Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development.

He has over 40 articles in professional publications, and has twice been featured on CBC Radio’s Spark program and his work is also featured in the book 12 Strategies for Re-Energizing Your Community.
